Visit to Idaho Falls

This last weekend, we went up to Idaho Falls to visit my family. Since my family lives close to Jackson Hole, the Tetons, Yellowstone, and Swan Valley (important: see the "square ice cream" post below), we were able to visit all four in one day.

Square Ice Cream

In Swan Valley, Idaho, there is the square ice cream store. For anyone who lives within driving distance of Swan Valley (and even those who don't), getting square ice cream in the summer is a tradition. My uncle Kent used to own the square ice cream store, and I worked there when I was in high school with my cousin. I have tried to explain how square ice cream works to many people, and they don't seem to believe me. So, here we are with our square ice cream, which is square because of the square scoop they use. My favorite square ice cream flavor is huckleberry, which they did not have on this day. Sadly, I had to get raspberry. And just in case you are wondering, square ice cream is way better than round ice cream.

Field Trip Tuesday

Today while we were running errands, we decided to go to a pick and pull lot to see if they had a gas door for our car. (For those of you who haven't noticed the giant black hole on the side of our car, our gas door has been missing for nearly a year.) I had never been to a pick and pull and was amazed at the rows and rows of crappy smashed up cars. That and the people that own the lot were very interesting. The man who told us where to find what we were looking for looked like a Z Z Top wannabe. Anyway, every pick and pull lot Matt has gone to has not had any Ford Focuses. Until... today! We found a lot that had 2 silver Fords with their gas doors in tact. All we needed was a screwdriver and some skillfull prying to get what we needed. Now we can't be made fun of because of our gas door. : )

Ward Campout

As Activities Committee chairpeople, Matt and I are in charge of putting together an activity a month for our ward. This month's activity was the annual ward campout. It was a success, and luckily, there were no bears like there were last year. Being Activities Committee chairpeople, we have learned one very important lesson--buy little plates. If you are ever in charge of feeding an entire ward (which we are frequently), buy little plates so you don't run out of food. The campout was good though, and we hope that everyone had fun.

Happy 2nd Anniversary!

July 14th was our 2nd anniversary. To celebrate, we went up to Salt Lake, did a session in the Salt Lake Temple (which I had never done before, and which was really neat), and ate dinner at The Roof in the Joseph Smith Memorial Building.
