Disneyland!

The first week of June, right after Matt's birthday, my parents and Hannah came down and we went to Disneyland!  We live quite close to Disneyland, so we figured we ought to go at least once, right?  But the kids had a blast.  It's a lot of work with 3 little kids, but they had fun and so did we.  Thanks, so much, mom and dad and Hannah for coming down and going with us.  And a special thank you for helping with the kids!  It had been a few years since we had been to Disneyland, so it was fun to go and see a few changes that were made.  We wanted to go earlier in the spring, but with the rather large measles outbreak we thought we'd keep our not-yet-old-enough-to-be-vaccinated infant away.  The first week of June was great, though, and it was worth the wait!

Happy 3-1

Happy 31, Matt!  This year Matt turned 31 on the 31st.  This was also the first birthday in a few years where we weren't moving and packing on his birthday.  Happy birthday, Matt!  We love you!

camping

In May, we really wanted to take the kids on a campout, and the boys had been begging to go as well.  Matt had been on a few campouts with the scouts and the boys were a little jealous.  We picked a weekend that we didn't have anything else going on, and we planned our outing.  As the weekend got closer, the weather was looking worse and worse.  It had rained all day Thursday, and Friday morning.  It was supposed to clear up Friday night before it started raining again Saturday afternoon, but it seemed like a narrow window of dry weather.  That being said, we decided to chance it.  We got everything loaded up, including the kids, and our van was packed to the brim.  As we were getting ready to pull out, the car started and everything, Matt checked his voice mail.  He had just missed a call from the campground, which had to close because a big tree had fallen over the road to get in and out.  

We didn't know what to do.  We couldn't just call it off because the kids were all buckled in their seat belts!  Ha.  We unloaded the kids, and did some quick checking for a new camping spot.  Lake O'Neill, which is only like 10 minutes from our house has a campground.  We called and there were multiple spots available...probably because of the rain...so we took one.  It wasn't quite the mountainous camping we had originally wanted, but it was perfect for the kids.  All they really want to do is play in the dirt, and dirt there was.

Carlsbad Flower Fields

The list of things to do and see in San Diego is quite endless.  In Carlsbad, there is a gorgeous flower field we visited with friends.  The strawberry field is close by, and the outlet mall is just down the hill from the flowers, so although we'd seen the flower field many times, we'd never been until this spring.   The flowers are so pretty.  I'm sure the little boys didn't think it was quite as nice as we moms did, but there were a few fun things there for the kids to do.   

Now, I know very little about flowers and plants.  It's sort of embarrassing.  I do know, however, that if you drown your garden on accident, it won't grow.  Sheesh.  Our trip to the flower fields was somewhat educational because we learned that the majority of the flowers there were ranunculus plants.  They are very pretty.  There were poppies and other types of flowers there as well.
