This boy loves dirt. Nothing makes him more happy than being able to get dirty, play in the dirt, and even eat dirt. This last weekend we went camping, and Graham was in heaven. Dirt everywhere, and nowhere to take a bath. Perfect.
Before you read on, here's a couple of things to note: 1. There's kind of a lot of pictures. 2. We live in the desert, so camping here is a little different than camping in Utah and Idaho where we grew up. So...if you look at our lovely campsite and wonder where all the trees and mountain regions are, well...there aren't any. Kind of strange, we know. : ) But it was still camping and we had a lot of fun. (If you drive far enough north, you get to experience real forest camping, but we wanted to stay close, so Lake Pleasant was our destination.)
When we got to our camp we set up our tent! Graham helped.
"Whoa, neat!"
The tent was so cool Graham wouldn't look at me for a picture. He had better things to explore.
We walked down to the lake for a little dip. So fun. And rocks splashing in the water is hilarious, if you ask Graham.
It wouldn't be camping without hot dogs...
marshmallows....
and fire!
"Good morning, Graham and daddy!"
Saturday morning we made a nice camp breakfast, and Graham helped with the water.
Then we went for a nice hike/walk around part of the lake.
We took a little break and put our feet in the water. It was so nice.
Afterward, we were so thirsty.
Graham had one last chance to play in the dirt before we headed home, so he took advantage and got in enough dirt for a few weeks, at least.
How did he get so dirty? Well, here's how. We couldn't keep him out of the fire pit. D.I.R.T.Y.

How fun! So glad Graham loves to camp, and dirt is the best part for a toddler!
It looks like you had so much fun! Too bad we couldn't have joined you. I love that Graham likes the dirt so much. Those pictures were so cute!
I was thinking about taking our kids camping when the semester was over. But all that dirt is giving me hives. This post may have set me back three years. :) Graham is adorable in the dirt though. You are a good Mom.
