twas the night(s) before Christmas

To help us celebrate the season, we came up with a bucket list of Christmas activities to do each night as a family.  We didn't capture them all on camera, but we did get a few.  We decorated our Christmas tree, and Graham was somewhat eager to help.  All the little decorations were carefully hung at his level.  (During the rest of the month, however, he wasn't so careful with the decorations.  We had to keep him from hitting them with spoons.)

Graham helped put the star on top

We went to the annual Peoria Holiday Celebration, which was pretty fun last year.  This year it was way busier.  I had to take a picture (which isn't so great) of this super long line.  What is this line for, you may ask?  Mind you, this line is for an activity that cost money.

Snow.  Super lame-o.  The city brought in a whole bunch of snow (or made snow...not sure which) and charged people money to play in it.  Super silly.  By the time we saw it, it was more like a big ol' slushy.  Gross.

Graham knew there was something fishy about all this nonsense.

There were free hay rides, and Graham had a good time driving around looking at all the tractors with lights on them.  He even got to see a fire truck.  Super cool, Graham.

Our days in Arizona are numbered, so we had to have a Christmas party with our Midwestern friends, the Bushmans, Ashbys, Teftellers, and Svenkaras.  We always have so much fun when we get together, and we don't do it enough.  Here are all the wives...

and some of the kids.   Luke and Graham are playing catch...or at least it looks like they are.  Too cute.

We played a white elephant game and everyone ended up with some pretty good stuff.  I think Heather was exceptionally excited about winning this sombrero.  : )

Christmas wouldn't be complete without gingerbread houses.

Graham and I made the dough for the house one day while Mason was napping, and I couldn't keep Graham out of the mixer bowl.  He was eating the sugar and molasses before I could get everything else mixed in.

We always love going to Mesa to see the temple lights.  They do such a nice job with all the lights.

All snuggly and warm.  Mason fell asleep but Graham was having a good time.

We love making Christmas cookies.  Graham was caught eating the dough.  Busted, little buddy.  (But I can't blame him.  I like the dough as much as anyone.)

These are Graham's cookies...he frosted them very nicely, and then felt like they needed to be flipped with a spatula.  So this is how they ended up.

We did a little shopping at the new outlet malls near our house.  They're pretty fun to go to, and we cant get out of there without a little train ride.

Don't worry, Mason's still hanging out with us.  : )  He did lots of observing and chewing while we baked.

Our friends, the Bushmans, invited us to go to this cute little train park, the McCormic train park in Scottsdale, with them.  It was decorated all cute for Christmas and the boys loved all the trains and lights.

Jackson and Graham got to sit on the train.  How cool.
