fa la la la la, la la la la

The first week of October Graham and I flew to Idaho Falls to spend the week with my family.  Graham did great on the flight, and it was really good to see my family for a while.  It did, however, snow the entire time we were there.  The first morning we were there, it was raining, and I said to my dad, "I'm waiting for it to turn into snow."  My dad replied, "Oh, it won't snow.  It's too warm."  Ha ha.  It snowed and snowed and snowed and snowed.  Because it snowed the whole time we were there, our internal holiday clocks are all messed up now.  While we were out doing things in IF, I kept thinking that we needed to be Christmas shopping, and was wondering why no one was listening to Christmas music.

So we just stayed inside and played with Darby,

Before we left for Idaho I went out and bought this sweater for Graham.  The poor boy didn't have any warm clothes or long sleeve shirts, so we went kind of prepared with this sweater and some long sleeve onesies to go under the rest of his shirts.

But we had to go shopping for real winter clothes.  They don't sell them in AZ, so we went straight to the source.  Winterland.  Aka, Idaho Falls's Children's Place.

And Graham go this very handsome coat.  It's legit.  It's a two-piece, with a shell on the outside and a removable fleece jacket inside.  It even has an elastic shelf that keeps the snow out of your pants.  (I have no idea what it's really called, but in my coat, that elastic thing keeps the snow from getting in my pants.  : )  )

We went to dinner, and Graham really wanted to eat my dad's steak.

Graham was looking like a big boy riding around with his coat and tennis shoes on.  But also note the other baby in the car...it's Hannah's doll for her parenting class.  He he.  It got to hang out with us for the weekend, and I think Hannah was more than ready to give it back when Monday came.

When we got back from Idaho Falls Graham and I watched the Santa Claus.  We couldn't shake the Christmas feeling, and I've been trying really hard not to watch A Christmas Story.  I figure I can hold until closer to Thanksgiving...maybe.

We bought this teeny swimming pool for Graham a few weeks back, but it's been too hot to use it.  Saturday it was kind of cool...like 105...but we broke out the pool anyway.  Graham was pretty excited to get to splash around.

Graham has one tooth, so we thought we'd let him brush it.  Start dental hygiene early, you know.

Graham keeps himself pretty busy.

He really wants to go outside, but it's still too hot.  Bummer.

He tried and tried to get some water out of my water bottle, but was unsuccessful.  After getting frustrated with the bottle, he figured out that if he tipped it on its side, he could get water.  Smart boy.

Whenever we turn on the music this is where he goes.  He knows where the music is coming from and tries to reach it.

Look, he can fit a whole quesadilla in his mouth.  We couldn't be prouder.  Ha ha.

I tried to get him to let me take a picture of his little tooth, but he wasn't too interested in that.

Sometimes we get beadhead.

Graham really likes this little bat and drags it around with him most of the day.  He shows promise as a future star baseball player.  Or a criminal--with the way he bashes up the Blu-ray player.  Let's hope it isn't the latter.

There were more pictures from Labor day on Matt's phone that didn't get uploaded the first time.  Here's one of them.  We packed Graham a little sandwich to eat for lunch, but that didn't stop him from eating the Doritos first.  See the cheese on his face?  Naughty boy.

labor day weekend

We had a great Labor day weekend!  Saturday we watched the BYU game with our friends...go Cougars!  On Monday we wanted to go somewhere, but I refused to drive anywhere that would be just as hot as it was here.  It's not really an escape from town if you don't escape the heat.  We decided to head up to Prescott (press-kit if you are from here).  It was lovely!  We found Prescott National Forest and had a picnic lunch.  It was in the mid-80's, so we could actually sit outside without sweating.  Lovely.  We then headed to town, walked through some antique shops, and wandered through an outdoor festival thing with booths of crafts, handmade goods, and food.

Graham got to taste a blue sno-cone.  I think he liked it.

Here are some things that make you fat are really tasty! : )

#1: Homemade ice cream.  I found the recipe here and you don't need a machine to make it.  It's so good.

and if it wasn't fattening enough, we put it between two cookies.

#2: Pizza rolls.  Basically I made a pizza, rolled it up like a cinnamon roll, and baked it.  Kind of strange, but really good.  : )
