Leave Provo and head to Page, AZ--the halfway mark. Page is an interesting little town. It's mostly tourists, since Page is on Lake Powell. What in the heck is that? We sat there in the dark wondering what in the world was going on. It sounded like everyone in the hallway was coming in and out of their rooms. Then we heard it. Barking. Lots of barking.

This carried on for a while. Matt finally gets up and is going to go see what's going on. Mind you, his hair is standing straight up, and he's got his glasses on. Clearly had been sleeping. The noise is from our next door neighbor. Matt gets into the hallway, runs into a little old man who begins to tell him all about this animal shelter that is in Kanab and how he's going to take some dogs to the shelter. He continues telling Matt that he has 8 (yeah, that's right. 8) puppies. The puppies are making him tired because they won't sleep. As the homely little man goes on and on and on and on about these little dogs, Matt takes note of something the old man's holding. A bucket. Of Dinty Moore Stew, or Alpo. Either way, it smelled awful. After a longer-than-necessary encounter, the man says he'll be quiet. We get back in bed.

Barking. But now the barking's outside. Oh dear.
Eventually it died off, and we were able to sleep.
Dear reader, please don't bring dogs to a hotel. And please, don't feed them Dinty Moore. That stuff makes humans sick, and it's made for us.
