Our boy Graham is getting so big it's killing me. He's growing up so fast, and we just love him to bits. Not a day goes by that we don't think he's pretty much the greatest. Last October, we stumbled across this toddler bed at an HOA garage sale. (We made quite the haul at this particular garage sale...we picked up some awesome items for cheap... anyway...) It was $15 and included the mattress. We couldn't pass it up, although we didn't have any plans for it and didn't anticipate Graham using it for a while. This last weekend, though, Matt painted it (and it looks awesome, by the way...) and put it all together. It's pretty much the cutest bed we've ever seen.
The toddler bed and the crib are very similar in shape--the head and foot boards have very similar curves and designs. It's like it was meant to be in our house. : ) The bed was a cherry finish, which was cute, but there's just something about white kid furniture that we love. (The crib was cherry once, but it also received a coat of paint.) Once the bed was together, Graham was in love.
He hardly let me put sheets on it, but wasn't completely against giving me some good smiles for pictures.
"Cheese!"
This is as far as we got with the quilt. Graham was rather upset that I was ruining his bed time. Later on in the day I was able to actually make the bed.
Last night was Graham's first night in the bed, and he did awesome! We also tried him on Saturday night, but it was a no-go. Sadly, Saturday was (and might still be) his last night in his crib. So sad. But last night Matt tucked Graham in, talked to him about staying in the bed, and left the room. A few seconds later Graham was knocking on the door wanting out. He wasn't crying, he just wanted to let us know that he was there waiting for us. Matt went back in, got Graham back in bed, and came back out. A few seconds later we heard a tiny knock on the door. We were cracking up. The third time was the charm, though, and Graham stayed in the bed and went to sleep! Here he sleeping last night...I had to use the flash because it was too dark. Luckily Graham didn't wake up with me annoyingly taking pictures of the poor sleeping boy. We didn't hear a peep out of him all night, and we're pretty sure he slept the whole night through. At about 3am, though, Matt went in to check on Graham, and found him on the floor. Super funny. He was sleeping, his feet at his bed and his head toward the crib on the opposite side of the room. We aren't sure how long he'd been there, or if he fell out, or just got out of bed, or even walked around the house, but he didn't wake us up.
Today at nap time he slept in his bed again. I think he's going to do alright in it.
