At the beginning of June, Matt graduated from his intern year of his residency. There was a ceremony for all the graduating interns and residents at the Organ Pavilion in Balboa Park. We're really proud of Matt's accomplishments this year. He worked a really busy year, had a very busy schedule, and somehow lived to tell the tale. : ) I was able to snap a few pictures of Matt in his uniform (or outfit, as Graham calls it). I think he looks quite dashing. Way to go, Matt. One year done, and we're not going to count the rest. : )

happy 30th Matt!
Matt turned the big 3-0 this year! Seems a little old, right? : ) Maybe not. This year, we tried to make Matt's birthday special, despite it occurring right in the middle of our move. Matt had to work on his actual birthday, and didn't get home until quite late, so we celebrated his birthday on June 1st, since it was his only day off that week. The boys were so excited for his birthday, and I felt bad not telling them that it was actually Matt's birthday on the 31st. The whole day went by and they had no idea. Whenever Graham would ask if it was Matt's birthday, I'd just tell him we were going to celebrate it tomorrow. But when we celebrated Matt's birthday, the boys had a blast. Happy birthday, Matt! We love you and are so fortunate to have such a wonderful husband and father in our family! We hope that the next 30 years are just as great, and even better.

Graham plays soccer
We put Graham in 3-year-old soccer at the Miramar Marine Base, and it was so funny. Graham had a great time, although he sometimes had a really hard time focusing on the game or the ball. He was such a good sport about playing soccer. He never complained and was always willing to play.

fun & games
And now for a collection of uncategorized pictures from my phone...
One morning the boys played Legos together for a really long time. Usually, they don't sit quietly together.
Easter
We had a lovely Easter this year. So far, Matt hadn't had to work any major holidays (which is very fortunate), but he did have to work on Easter. It worked out for the best though, because he worked a late afternoon shift. Our church doesn't start until 1:00, so we were able to spend the entire morning with him, which was nice. Instead of doing a large Easter dinner, we had an Easter brunch.

Carlsbad Strawberry Field
Last summer, we discovered the best u-pick strawberry field in Carlsbad. It's huge and the strawberries, from what I hear, are really good. It opened not too long ago, so when Matt was off we headed there to let the boys pick. Graham has been requesting to go strawberry picking since we went last June. Lucky for him, the strawberries were finally on. : )
a day in LA
Matt had his second week off since last June in March. We decided it would be a fun day to drive up to LA to hang out and see some of our good friends that live in Pasadena. We drove up in the morning and made our first stop Downtown Disney. Downtown Disney is really fun but it was kind of sad being sooo close to Disneyland and not going in. We'll make more trips up there over the next few years, I'm sure.
We stopped by the Lego store, and the boys loved it.
They were building race cars outside, so Graham and Matt made themselves a car to race.
